Our anthology collaborations recreate the ancient rituals of those circles in the written word, in books, bringing together the very necessary voices of women, to reveal inspiring stories and discuss topics that otherwise would never have been aired.

I'm a Literary Medicine Woman, a name given to me by a Shaman, and a name that fits how I think of this work; using words as spells, writing clearly and concisely, unearthing our deepest nuggets of wisdom and bringing them to life for another woman to wash in her own stream of consciousness and use how she wishes, for her highest good.

 

My publishing journey began 21 years ago, long before I found natural medicine, sister circle, the idea of holding space in bare feet and learning how to serve ceremonial cacao around fires. In those early days, I published with a traditional publisher, launching a career that has since spanned 18 published works as an author, editor and ghost writer, and now, a publisher myself, my own poetry is published alongside these beautiful anthologies. Through countless hours of editing, mentoring, and guiding manuscripts I've taken 148 women through a journey of articulating their stories, writing the raw, real truth and then refining them into a chapter they're proud to share in our collaborations.

I discovered something profound through the process of journalling and publishing: that the deepest of transformations occur in women when we commit our experiences to paper, and see them in black and white, written down. Living life is one thing but writing it to distil the gem of wisdom for another woman to discover on her path is quite another - and that has become the most significant part of my work.

Women often arrive believing their stories are of no value, and that they cannot write, yet they leave as published authors with profound clarity about their journey and ability. Several have gone on to publish books under their own name, their confidence ignited by seeing their wisdom touch other lives.

This is why I champion collaborative storytelling. When women write their own narratives, and when they write in community rather than isolation, something magical happens. Stories become medicine. Voices become revolution. Wisdom becomes legacy.

All proceeds from every book go to a small charity I'm proud to be the Patron of, Bali Street Mums, who do amazing work with women and children in the slums of Bali.

I split my time between hosting Gather the Women sister circles and anthology author programmes, editing and mentoring writers on-line from a wooden house in Asia, and gathering in-person with my sisters around fires, sipping cacao and sharing stories in.
